The story
Captain Bramble was the oldest sailor on the Acorn Sea. This was his last voyage — one final trip across the water before he retired.
But halfway across, a thick silver FOG rolled in. Bramble could not see the stars. He could not see the shore. He could not see anything at all.
"I've sailed through storms and waves," said Bramble. "But I've never been truly LOST before." He gripped the wheel tight. "How do I get through this?"
Captain Bramble must choose his approach. How will he face the fog?
What happens next?
- Sail straight through!
- Read the waves!
- Call for help!
Bramble pointed his ship straight ahead. Full speed! The fog swirled and tried to turn him, but he held the wheel firm.
CRACK! The ship scraped against hidden rocks! Water splashed in. The fog was hiding a reef!
The ship is leaking! What does brave Captain Bramble do?
What happens next?
- Patch the hole!
- Beach on the sandbar!
Bramble worked fast! He plugged the leak and steered toward a light in the fog. It was the lighthouse! He had sailed THROUGH the fog!
Bramble made it! His ship is battered but he is safe. What does he think?
What happens next?
- "I never gave up!"
- "Was there a better way?"
"Being brave," said Bramble, looking at his scratched-up ship, "doesn't mean nothing goes wrong. It means you keep going when it does."
Bramble stopped the ship. He put his paw in the water and felt the current. "The water knows the way," he whispered. "I just have to listen."
He followed the current. Left, then right, then left again. Slowly the fog began to thin. He could see shapes — rocks, then trees, then the shore!
Bramble sees the shore! But there are two paths through the remaining fog. Which way?
What happens next?
- The narrow shortcut!
- The safe wide path!
Bramble sailed carefully and perfectly. Not a scratch on his ship. He glided into the harbour like a whisper.
Bramble made it without a scratch! What does he think about?
What happens next?
- "Patience won the day!"
- "The sea showed me the way."
"You don't always need to fight your way through," said Bramble. "Sometimes the cleverest thing is to slow down and let the world show you the way."
Bramble rang the ship's bell. DONG! DONG! DONG! "Is anyone out there?" he called into the fog. "I'm lost!"
A soft blue glow appeared in the fog. Then another. Jellyfish! Dozens of gentle, glowing jellyfish surrounded the ship.
The jellyfish seem to be showing a path! Should Bramble follow them?
What happens next?
- Follow the light!
- Thank them and ask!
The jellyfish led Bramble through the fog, around every rock and reef. Not one bump. They brought him to a cove he had never seen before — the most beautiful place in the whole sea.
Bramble found a magical hidden cove! What does he feel?
What happens next?
- "Thank you, friends."
- "I found something new!"
"I thought this was my LAST voyage," said Bramble, tears in his eyes. "But asking for help didn't end my journey — it showed me a place I never knew existed."
